United Airlines Potentially has Hazardous Work Environments. Find out if you’re covered by the DBA now!

“Honesty needs no disguise nor ornament; be plain.” – Thomas Otway

Being a United Airlines Employee

“United currently serves nearly 60 countries and more than 130 destinations outside of the United States.” These regions include Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, India, The Middle East, North and South America. Some of these areas have clear or hidden hazards that have the potential to damage your health.

So what happens if you get hurt while working abroad in one of these regions for United Airlines? What happens to you and your family when you can’t find another job after you are sent home? What happens to the medical and house bills that are piling up with no income to pay for them?

This is where the Defense Base Act (DBA) steps in. The DBA covers injured civilian contractors working overseas. This is good news for you because that probably includes you as an overseas employee of United Airlines. This means you will receive benefits, if you have been injured while working abroad, that will cover those medical and house bills and secure a bright future for you and your family.

Getting Those Benefits

So now that you know you are covered by the DBA, that you have a DBA claim on your hands its time to take some action.

Step 1:  You are going to need the best DBA lawyer out there. I mean the very best. I mean do your research. Read blogs, watch videos, read testimonials, check out reviews, see if they have any resources on their site.

You find one you like but they’re not local? Great! The Defense Base Act is under Federal Law, which means anyone from anywhere in the U.S. can represent you and your case in court. Honestly, it is likely that you are not going to find a DBA lawyer that is based near your hometown. You’ll have to look past state lines.

Step 2: Be ready. For anything. Know your enemy by researching what the DBA insurance company is looking for when they are trying to delegitimize your claim. Research the DBA law system in general so you know what to say, what to do and what you need to win your DBA case.

You can do this utilizing the resources available to you like the Turley and Mara website which acts as the ultimate resource for all things DBA related. We have videos, interviews, testimonials, an article library, and an FAQ page. If you have a question about the DBA, we probably have the answer on this site.

I prefer books personally, which is why I wrote my book, Win Your Defense Base Act, it is the best straight-talking guide to winning your DBA case. The whole book is structured with concise, easy to follow numbered bullet points that tells you exactly what you need to do and what you need to avoid.

Step 3: The next thing you’re going to have to do is stay honest. DBA cases are won based on credibility. If the judge thinks you’re lying about any aspect of your case then you will lose your case. Seriously. I mean even a small exaggeration, a little bit of a dramatization, anything close to a lie will cost you your DBA case. And you will get nothing. I guarantee it.

By completing these three steps you are going to be ready to take on the DBA insurance company and their lawyers with your own super lawyer. You will be able to present your claim clearly and efficiently and finally get the money and medical help that you not only need but that you deserve.
