“I’ll tell you what the public likes more than anything. It’s the rarest commodity in the world – honesty.”
– Merle Haggard
Let’s Start Simple:
I’m going to give you my best advice first. The truth wins Defense Base Act (DBA) cases. It will win your DBA case too. So always tell the truth, about everything, all the time.
Whether you win or lose your case is going to be based on whether or not the Judge believes you and your story. Credibility is everything and your enemy, the DBA insurance company lawyers, is going to try to dismantle that one detail at a time. You can count on that as fact. I do.
Sadly, a lot of seriously injured civilian contractors from all over the world fall into traps made by the DBA insurance companies and lose their DBA cases. They either hire an unexperienced, self-proclaimed “DBA Lawyer” because they’re local or they go at their case alone.
Now my firm can’t possibly represent every seriously injured civilian contractor in the U.S. much less in the world. But I can help folks from anywhere in the world be trained and prepared for their upcoming battle against these DBA insurance companies. Which is why I wrote my book, Win Your Defense Base Act Case: The Ultimate Straight Talk Roadmap to the Medical Treatment and Money You and Your Family Deserve.
This book will break down and highlight all the important details you are going want to know to get ready for your DBA case. You can order it on this website today for FREE or check it out on Amazon with its dozens of 5 star reviews.
There is also The Turley and Mara Law Firm website which a comprehensive guide to all things Defense Base Act related. We want you to have the tools you need to win your case. Cause at the end of the day everyone hates losing, especially me.
“This info is great! But I’m no expert, I still need help.”
You're probably right and knowing that you can'd do this on your own makes you smart. DBA cases can be long, frustrating and complex. Which means you are going to still need support and guidance from a law firm or lawyer that knows the ins and outs of the Defense Base Act. You want to hire the very best DBA lawyer you can find. Someone that will breakdown your situation in plain English without any sweeteners. This is you and your family’s future at stake and nothing is more important than that. You already know that and so do I.
“Ok so where do I find this ‘Straight-Talk’ Attorney?”
You probably are thinking you want someone near you in Delaware. Someone you or your family and friends know or have seen around town. I get it, being familiar with your lawyer means being comfortable with your lawyer. But honestly, this isn’t always the case.
You might be your local lawyer’s first DBA case or maybe he/she doesn’t fully comprehend the Defense Base Act, which means he/she might settle your case for something far less than what you and your family deserve. This means the DBA insurance company wins. This is not an outcome you or I want. I mentioned I hate losing, right?
But it doesn’t matter if you live Wilmington, Dover, Georgetown or Felton; the Defense Base Act is federal law which means you can hire a seasoned DBA lawyer to represent your case from anywhere in the U.S.
Now, I’m based in San Diego, California. A city with one of the largest military populations in the U.S. and has the largest shipyard on the West Coast. I’ve been handling Longshore and Harbor Worker Compensation Act claims since 1987.
Why do you care?
The Defense Base Act is an extension of the Longshore Act and DBA cases are administered through the Department of Labor. It is the same law, same system and same judges. So, I’ve been handling DBA cases long before the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. My firm is now one of the two largest DBA law firms in the world and has offices in San Francisco, Oakland, Bakersfield and Los Angeles.
My firm represents overseas injured civilian worker all over the world. I want to help folks like you get the medical and financial benefits that you and your loved ones are entitled too. I want to help you get these benefits with the truth because the truth wins.
So even if you don’t hire the Turley and Mara Law Firm, take advantage of our resources; our website and your FREE book, Win Your Defense Base Act Case, and hire an experienced DBA attorney within or outside of Delaware.
If you have a DBA claim you have one year after the date of the accident or last payment of compensation (whichever comes last) to file and Employee Claim for Compensation. These claims must be filed with one of the district offices of the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs.
Check here to see where your nearest DBA district office is.
If you’ve missed the 1 year deadline still find your experienced DBA lawyer. We’ve found success in prosecuting claims filed later than a year so you still have an opportunity here. But, the sooner you file your claim the better.
