Second, historically, Longshore Lawyers are on the West Coast, East Coast, and Gulf States. Meaning Longshore workers are mainly in these locations. . For instance, our main offices are in Oakland and San Diego. San Diego has the largest shipyard on the West Coast. These shipyard workers are Harbor Workers covered by the Longshore Act. Oakland has one of the largest container ports in the United States. All of the Oakland Longshoremen fall under the Longshore Act. We have been handling Longshore/ DBA cases since the 1980's.

Third, before the first Gulf War, there were relatively few Defense Base Act workers. With the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, many jobs which were once military, are not performed by DBA workers. Which has resulted in hundreds of thousands of civilian employees working overseas. All of whom are covered by the DBA. As you probably realize - Iraq and Afghanistan are extremely dangerous places to work. From the beginning DBA workers were seriously injured their.

When these DBA workers in Iraq and Afghanistan started coming home to the mid-west and other land-locked States, the DBA workers really had few options to hire local DBA lawyers. Many of these Defense Base Act workers made huge mistakes in hiring local lawyers that did not have Longshore or Defense Base Act experience.
