“When I seek out professional advice, I don’t want B.S. I want it straight up, with no double talk. I figure do also. I always use plain English, with no sugarcoating no B.S. lawyer talk, and no double talk - just old fashioned, unsweetened, unvarnished truth-just the way that I would want it.” -Bill Turley
The First Step
When handling your work injury case, nothing matters more than the honest truth. Nothing. You must be straightforward and honest about your case. I have seen many instances where a client will sugarcoat their injury and the courts throw out the case. Why? All because they were not honest from the get-go.
The Next Step
If you've been injured on the job, you probably have a ton of questions. I understand. You are concerned about your family and your livelihood. My suggestion is the next step you should take before anything else is to read my book, Win Your Injury Case. I wrote it to help folks like you, good people who got hurt on the job. You can order a free copy and I will cover the shipping too.

All You Need To Know About California Temporary Disability Benefits
When you are a seriously injured California worker you are probably concerned about you and your family's future. In this article, I answer the common questions about California Workers' Compensation Temporary Disability benefits. Which are also known as weekly compensation benefits or workers' comp checks.
What Are California Temporary Disability Benefits?
Temporary Disability benefits are payments you get from the California workers' compensation insurance carrier if you can't do your usual job while you are recovering from your work injury or work illness. Temporary Disability benefits are also known as "TD" benefits.
Temporary Partial Disability (TPD)
If you can do some work while recovering from your California work injury, but you are earning less than before your injury, you should receive temporary partial disability benefits. Also known as TPD benefits.
Temporary Total Disability (TTD)
If you can't work at all while recovering from your California work injury you should receive temporary total disability benefits. Also known as TTD benefits.
Some California employers have plans that pay all your wages for all or part of the time you are temporarily disabled. These plans are called salary continuation. There are different kinds of salary continuation plans. Some salary continuation plans use your vacation and/or sick leave to supplement the TD payments required by California workers' compensation law.
How Is Temporary Disability Calculated?
California temporary disability is calculated as 2/3 of your Average Weekly Wage, subject to the statutory minimum and maximums at time of injury. Meaning, you are entitled to 2/3's of your Average Weekly Wage. Is There a Waiting Time? A 3-day waiting period applies, which is reimbursed after the 14th day of your disability. There is no waiting period if you are immediately hospitalized.
How Long Can I Receive TTD Benefits?
Payments 2 years or more from the date of injury are subject to current statutory limits (known as the "2-year rule"). Meaning, you can usually only recover 104 weeks of TD benefits.
Do I Have to Pay Taxes on Temporary Disability Benefits?
TD benefits are not taxable.
