What is Waste Management, Inc. doing wrong in California?

There are several key allegations in the case. First, WMI and/or USA Waste of California, Inc. have instituted an illegal “auto meal deduct” policy. Meaning that employees are automatically deducted one half hour of wages for every shift worked. The deduction occurs even if the worker did not actually receive the half hour uninterrupted meal period. Second, WMI / USA Waste of California, Inc. did not allow workers to receive an thirty minute uninterrupted meal period for workers eligible to receive the first meal period. Third, WMI policy of not providing a second meal period to workers whom worked over 10 hour shifts. Fourth, workers are too busy with very tight production schedules to receive their 10 minute rest periods.
