My Best Advice
Nothing is more important when handling your case, then speaking the truth. People who believe if they sugarcoat their case, it will help them win their case. Wrong.
You have to be up-front, honest, and truthful to your attorney and the judge. If a judge suspects you’re not telling the truth, you can say goodbye to your case. Count on it. I have seen it time and time again.
My Second Best Advice
It’s crucial for you and your family to learn about your rights to medical care under the Defense Base Act and how the doctors you see can affect your case. For more information, request a free copy of my book, Win Your Defense Base Act Case: The Ultimate Straight Talk Roadmap to the Medical Treatment and Money You and Your Family Deserve. It will provide you with great detail on how to talk to the DBA insurance company doctors on page 72-73, along with information on every other topic reguarding your DBA case.

How Doctors for the DBA Insurance Company Help to Undervalue and Deny Injury Claims
When it comes times to make a determination about your injuries, a doctor working for the DBA insurance company might find some tricky ways to bend the truth and say that:
- Your injuries weren’t caused by your employment or existed before your employment.
- You aren’t actually injured or are “faking it” in hopes of getting undue compensation.
- Your injuries exist, but they aren’t as bad as you claim and don’t prevent you from returning to work.
If you didn’t choose your own doctor, or if your personal doctor and the insurance company’s doctor disagree about the cause or extent of your injury, then your case becomes a lot more complicated and difficult to win.
You Have the Right to See a Doctor of Your Choosing
As you work through the steps required to get your Defense Base Act (DBA) benefits for an overseas injury, you may find yourself dealing with one of the doctors working for or that was recommended by the insurance company handling your claim. Keep in mind that you have the right to see a doctor of your choosing, and seeing the DBA insurance company’s doctor can come with some major challenges.
The problem is that insurance companies are likely to recommend you see doctors that they know will put the company’s priorities first. This might mean declaring you to be at Maximum Medical Improvement too early or saying that you can return to work without taking into account the real demands of your job. This is why you need to be careful about choosing your own doctor. In my free DBA Guide you can find a quick and easy reference section about how to speak with your doctor. I stress that you always tell the truth and are compleatly honest with your doctor from day one.
