What is Temporary Total Disability?

You are eligible for Temporary Total Disability (TTD) benefits when you are not able to do perform any type of employment. You are also eligible for Temporary Total Disability benefits when you are able to work under temporary restrictions which your employer can not provide. Temporary disability is paid at the rate of two-thirds of your average weekly earnings (A.W.E.). The maximum average weekly earnings is $840.00. These benefits are usually paid bi-weekly.

You will need medical proof that you are unable to work.

You are entitled to TTD benefits until you are declared permanent and stationary.

Generally, there is a 3 day waiting period before the insurance carrier must pay you benefits. If you are disabled for longer than 14 days, then you are eligble to receive the 3 day waiting period benefits.

The aggregate disability benefits for a single injury causing temporary disability is not to extend for more than 104 compensable weeks. Stated differently, you are only entitled to 2 years of TTD benefits.

However, for an employee who suffers from certain injuries or conditions - - acute and chronic hepatitis B or C, amputations, severe burns, human immuno-deficiency virus (HIV), hig-velocity eye injuries, chemical burns to the eyes, pulmonary fibrosis, or chronic lung disease, aggregate disability payments may extend for up to 240 compensable weeks within a period of five years from the date of injury.
