“We give you an insiders view of Defense Base Act Law. We don’t sugar coat it for you. Here, we give it to you straight. No lawyer talk, no double talk. Just good old fashioned, unsweetened truth.” Defense Base Act Lawyer - Bill Turley
“I’ll tell you what the public likes more then anything. It’s the rarest commodity in the world-honesty.” -Merle Haggard
My Best Advice
Nothing is more important when handling your case, then speaking the truth. People who believe if they sugar coat their case, it will help them win their case. Wrong.
You have to be up-front, honest, and truthful to your attorney and the judge. If a judge suspects your not telling the truth, you can say goodbye to your case. Count on it. I have seen it time and time again.
My Second Best Advice
Take the time to research your case. The more homework you do, the better your case. Order my Free book, Win Your Defense Base Act Case: The Ultimate Straight Talk Roadmap To The Medical Treatment and Money You and Your Family Deserve.

SOC-SMG, INC. - - Danger, Harm's Way and DBA Claims
SOC-SMG, INC. holds themselves out to the world as security experts. Their website discusses translators, linguists and interpreters as well as base operations and construction and the like. Based upon our experience though, SOC-SMG, INC. workers are covered by the Defense Base Act.
SOC-SMG, INC. says on their website that “75% of [their] employees perform hands on potentially dangerous work.” Which, of course, is security type work.
How dangerous is this work? According to Department of Labor published reports, there have been 654 Defense Base Act claims against SOC-SMG, INC. Based upon our experience, most DBA employers have seriously under-reported their Defense Base Act claims. Probably more accurate is 654 SOC-SMG, INC. employees have actually filed a DBA claim with the United Stated Department of Labor. Perhaps thousands more workers have been injured. Many injuries - such as PTSD - go unreported.
In addition, the Department of Labor has reported 23 deaths of SOC-SMG, INC. Defense Base Act workers.
Where does that place SOC-SMG, INC. as opposed to other DBA employers? In the top 20 in numbers of injuries / deaths reported to the United States Department of Labor.
Here is the bottom line. SOC-SMG, INC. workers are placed in harms way. Fact is, if you work for SOC-SMG, INC. in a Defense Base Act job - - you can be seriously injured. Based upon what we see - - many of these DBA workers are ex-military. Many ex-Special Forces and such.
You aren’t in Kansas anymore
Let me tell you what it’s like after you are injured while working under Defense Base Act. At that point it is no longer in SOC-SMG or any other DBA employer's hands. You are going to see that you aren’t in Kansas anymore. Meaning, whether you win or lose your DBA case isn’t up to the company you worked for - including SOC-SMG. Your case is now in the hand's of CNA - - the current Defense Base Act insurance company for SOC-SMG.
Like every Defense Base Act insurance carrier - - to get the benefits you entitled to from CNA you are going to need all the necessary documentation. If you can’t get your claim settled with CNA, then you are going to have to take your case to court.

Nation Wide Practice
We are asked by injured DBA workers across the United States (and the world) to represent them. We have a Nation wide practice. We represent injured Defense Base Act workers that live across America. We are the number one Defense Base Act Law Firm in the Western United States. We can help you and your family too.
We are based in San Diego, California. This is a benefit to you. Few Defense Base Act lawyers have been handling DBA cases longer than us. The Defense Base Act falls under the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act. Bill Turley has been handling Longshore Act cases since 1987. Because San Diego has the largest shipyard on the west coast with thousands of shipyard workers, Bill gained valuable experience with these cases long before the United States sent civilian workers to Iraq and Afghanistan. That experience helps him win Defense Base Act cases.
