"Here, we give you Straight Talk. Just good old fashion unsweetened, unvarnished, unabashed truth. Healthy truth - Even if it is not what you want to hear" - Private Security Contractor Lawyer - Bill Turley
My Best Advice
Nothing is more important when handling your case, then speaking the truth. People who believe if they sugarcoat their case, it will help them win their case. Wrong.
You have to be up-front, honest, and truthful to your attorney and the judge. If a judge suspects you’re not telling the truth, you can say goodbye to your case. Count on it. I have seen it time and time again.
My Second Best Advice
Take the time to research your case. The more homework you do, the better your case. Order my Free book, Win Your Defense Base Act Case: The Ultimate Straight Talk Roadmap To The Medical Treatment and Money You and Your Family Deserve.

Private Security Contractors And The Defense Base Act
In Iraq and Afghanistan, private firms known as Private Security Contractors (PSCs) serve to protect diplomats, workers building an infrastructure, individuals, transport convoys, buildings, forward operating bases and the like. When these private security contractors are injured or killed they are covered under the Defense Base Act (DBA). The DBA is a federal workers’ compensation system that is largely wage driven. Meaning, the benefits injured workers are entitled to are determined by the workers’ wages.
The Defense Base Act is an extension of the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. The reader is cautioned that there are very few lawyers in the United States who understand the in’s and out’s of the Defense Base Act. Be sure that the DBA lawyer that you hire actually “walks the walk.” Too often, seriously injured private security contractors hire local workers’ compensation lawyers rather than a Defense Base Act Lawyer with a national practice.
Unlike most areas of the law, a Defense Base Act lawyer can represent a private security contractor no matter what state the injured worker lives in. Unlike a car accident or a regular workers’ compensation case, a Defense Base Act Lawyer can represent workers from any State.
Your Peace of Mind
Seriously injured private security contractors should make sure the DBA lawyer they hire can go toe to toe with the DBA insurance company lawyer. Know this, the DBA insurance company lawyer knows the DBA laws and procedures. The last thing you want is for your lawyer to be “learning on the job,” at your expense.
If this has happened to you, it is fairly easy to change lawyers. You need the peace of mind in knowing your DBA lawyer has the skills, ways and means to win your Defense Base Act case.
We Have a Nationwide Practice
We are asked by injured DBA workers across the United States (and the world) to represent them. We have a Nation wide practice. We represent injured Defense Base Act workers that live across America. We are the number one Defense Base Act Law Firm in the Western United States. We can help you and your family too.
We are based in San Diego, California. This is a benefit to you. Few Defense Base Act lawyers have been handling DBA cases longer than us. The Defense Base Act falls under the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act. Bill Turley has been handling Longshore Act cases since 1987. Because San Diego has the largest shipyard on the west coast with thousands of shipyard workers, Bill gained valuable experience with these cases long before the United States sent civilian workers to Iraq and Afghanistan. That experience helps him win Defense Base Act cases. Let The Turley Law Firm put their experience to work for you.
