NASSCO - the largest shipyard on the West Coast - Ships built
with the Workers' blood, seat and tears

Bill Turley San Diego LHWCA Attorney

NASSCO is located on San Diego Bay. NASSCO is the largest new construction shipyard on the West Coast. NASSCO has been building large ships for commercial customers and the U.S. Navy since 1960. And since 1960, good men and woman have been sacrificing their blood, sweat and tears at NASSCO - 28th Street and Harbor Drive - building and repairing ships.

Over the last four decades, NASSCO has delivered over 110 ships to the world's fleets -- 58 ships to commercial customers, becoming America's leading commercial shipbuilder during this period; and 56 auxiliary and support ships for the U.S. Navy. These have included oil tankers, ferries, containerships, and oceanographic research ships for commercial customers; and hospital ships, fast combat support ships, tank landing ships, and roll-on/roll-off ships for the United States Navy. NASSCO currently has contracts to build 14 T-AKE dry cargo/ammunition ships for the U.S. Navy and nine U.S. Jones Act product tankers for U.S. Shipping Partners. Each of these ships have one thing in common - - each was built with good NASSCO workers being injured and sometimes killed in the process.
