The Truth is Not as Simple as It May First Appear
Okay, check this out. I have zero doubts that you want to win your Defense Base Act case. Your family’s future is of the utmost importance. I know.
I am well aware of this because my law firm represents seriously injured overseas civilian contractors; in fact we are one of the top two largest DBA law firms in the world that represents seriously injured overseas civilian contractors.
Here’s the scoop: Nothing is more vital to winning your DBA case than your credibility. Nothing will determine the outcome of your case as much as the whether Judge to believe you.
Seems simple enough, but it can be more complex than a jigsaw puzzle when no one gives you a picture of the puzzle. Now put on some blinders and try and put the puzzle together in a pitch black room. Now you are starting to get it. What I am getting at is telling the truth is a great starting point. But it is much more complex than it first appears.
In fact, if you aren't willing to win your case with the truth, then I suggest that you hire some other lawyer. There are plenty of lawyers out there that call themselves "DBA Lawyers."
You must tell the truth about everything, it is so important that I cannot stress it enough.
It's All Big Stuff When It Affects Your Credibility
You may have heard the phrase “don’t sweat the small stuff,” but this is bad advice when it comes to DBA law. All the minute details are exactly what the DBA insurance company is going to try and use to beat you in court and derail your case.
That is why I wrote my book, Win Your Defense Base Act Case. This is the book that the DBA companies love to hate. I wrote it to help you with all the "small stuff" that can help you save your credibility and help you win your DBA case. (The book is available for purchase on Amazon.com, or you can get it for free on this website.).
Don’t fall into the tricks and traps of the DBA insurance companies. You may be thinking, "I'm telling the truth, no problem, I've got this." Watch out though, that is just the thinking that can put you into a bad situation with your case.
"If you are in California and I’m not, why should I hire the Turley Law Firm?"
Good question. What you are going to see is that there are few firms that handle as many DBA cases as my firm. I am not trying to suggest that we are the only good DBA law firm. There are other very talented DBA lawyers out there. But the trouble for most folks is figuring out who the heavy hitters are from the rest of the pack.
Here is what happens all the time, we get calls from seriously injured overseas civilian contractors that have hired the wrong DBA attorney. We often hear things such as:
- “My lawyer screwed up my case, can you fix it?”
- “My benefits got cut off and my lawyer doesn’t seem like he knows what he’s doing?”
- “My lawyer stopped taking my calls.”
- “I got referred to a local workers compensation lawyer, he said he could handle my case. Can you help me?”
All I have to say is: Choose wisely.
I get that you are probably looking for a Florida Defense Base Act lawyer.
Whether you are in Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa, Pensacola, Orlando, St. Petersburg, Hialeah. Fort Lauderdale, Port St. Lucie, Pembroke Pines Tallahassee or anywhere else in Florida, I suggest that you do the research to find and hire the very best, honest DBA lawyer, that will agree to take your case. You want someone who takes on the DBA insurance companies all the time. You don't need a part-time DBA lawyer. I suggest you kick the tires.
Why me being from San Diego is a benefit to you
I am based in San Diego, California. I have been handling Longshore and Harbor Worker Compensation Act (Longshore Act) claims since 1987. I started handling Longshore cases for the shipyard workers in San Diego (San Diego has the largest shipyard on the West Coast) and for the Longshoreman on our waterfront.
The Defense Base Act is an extension of the Longshore Act. Defense Base Act cases are administered through the Department of Labor. It is the same law, same system and the same Judges. I have been handling DBA cases long before the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. So when overseas civilian contractors started coming home to California, they were referred to me. Now I have one of the two largest DBA law firms in the world that represents folks like you.
My firm understands DBA cases. We understand the DBA insurance companies. We represent seriously injured Defense Base Act workers and their families across the USA and around the world.
World-Wide Defense Base Act Practice
We practice Defense Base Act law for people just like you, all around the world. Our offices are located in Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Bakersfield and San Diego. We represent overseas civilian contractors that live around the world, across the United States, including folks from Florida.
