First Step: The Truth
Okay, check this out, I have zero doubts that you want to win your Defense Base Act case. Zero. You and your family’s future and security are the top priority. I know.
I know this because my law firm represents seriously injured overseas civilian contractors. Actually, we are one of the top two largest DBA law firms in the world that represent these injured individuals.
There’s only one rule to winning your case and it’s simple: establishing your credibility. Your DBA case’s outcome will be based on whether or not the judge believes you.
You should know, I hate losing. Hate it more than I love winning. So, if you aren’t willing to win you case with the truth I suggest you hire a different lawyer. There are plenty of lawyers out there that call themselves “DBA Lawyers”
I can’t stress enough how important telling the truth about everything in your case. It’s a simple first step. It’s what comes after that gets complicated.
Sweat the Small Stuff
You may have heard the phrase “don’t sweat the small stuff”. With the DBA law, you can completely ignore that sage advice. All the minute details are exactly what the DBA insurance company is going to try to use to destroy you and your case.
That is why I wrote my book, Win Your Defense Base Act Case: The Ultimate Straight Talk Roadmap To The Medical Treatment and Money You and Your Family Deserve, which you can check out on Amazon along with its numerous 5 Star reviews. This “How-To” guide will break down and highlight all the “small stuff” to keep you as honest as possible and take down the DBA insurance companies.
“But You’re in California and I’m not. How Can The Turley & Mara Law Firm, APLC Help Me?”
I get it. You want someone there with you, building you up and preparing you for battle. We’re here and we have the skills and experience to win your case. There are other very talented DBA law firms out there, but few have handled as many DBA cases as mine.
My firm gets calls all the time from panicked and seriously injured overseas civilian contractors who have hired the wrong DBA attorney. They say:
- “My benefits got cut off and my lawyer seems lost.”
- “My lawyer screwed me over, can you fix my case?”
- “My lawyer stopped taking me calls.”
- “I got referred to a local workers compensation lawyer, but it’s not working out.
My best advice: Choose your representation wisely.
But like I said, I get it. You want someone, there in Alaska, with and for you. Here’s what I’ll say: Whether you are in Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks or Dillingham or Nome; do your research and hire the very best, the most honest DBA specialized lawyer for your case. Get an expert. Keep in mind that at the end of the day the Defense Base Act is federal law, not state law.
I am not in Alaska. But I am in San Diego and here’s how that benefits you:
I am based in San Diego, California, which has the largest shipyard on the West Coast. Now I’ve been handling Longshore and Harbor Worker Compensation Act claims for San Diegan longshore men and shipyard workers since 1987.
The Defense Base Act is an extension of the Longshore Act.
Defect Base Act cases are administered through the Department of Labor. It is the same law, same system and the same Judges. I have been handling DBA cases long before the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. When overseas civilian contractors started coming home to California, they were referred to me.
Now my firm is one of the two largest DBA law firms in the world that represent folks like you.
World-Wide Defense Base Act Practice:
We practice Defense Base Act law for folks just like you, all around the world. We have offices in San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Bakersfield and of course, San Diego. We represent injured overseas civilian contractors all over the world, across the U.S. including you folks in Alaska.
Research is Your New Best Friend:
The website you find yourself on right now provides you with the information you need for your DBA case. Along with my book, Win Your Defense Base Act Case, you have the resources you need to make informed decisions in regard to your DBA case.
