Q: How much is my case worth?
A: This question is the one question that is asked most often by both our potential clients and clients. The simple answer is that there is no specific criteria, formula, calculator, or process that an attorney can use to give you an exact number. Any attorney who promises you a specific result should be avoided.
It all really depends. Each personal injury (or wrongful death) case is different. Like fingerprints, no two cases are the same. In order to render a reasoned statement of the value of any case the entire case has to be evaluated. That means reviewing your medical records, witness statements, and understanding the defenses that can be anticipated. Any lawyer that says they can give you the true value of your case without all of the foregoing, is not being truthful with you.
As trial lawyers, the attorneys in our office can usually give you an idea of what cases have settled for in your city or location as well as what amounts juries have awarded in their verdicts with similar facts to yours. Our attorneys will be there with you during the entire process to evaluate and counsel you regarding your case’s strengths and weaknesses.
The attorneys in our office will work aggressively to prosecute your case to obtain the best possible result. The final result will be based upon several factors including: liability, evidence, your maximum medical improvement level, past lost earnings, future lost earnings, ability to return to work or not, pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, any future health care plan, etc.
