“When I seek out professional advice, I don’t want B.S. I want it straight up, with no double talk. I figure you do also. I always use plain English, with no sugarcoating, no B.S. lawyer talk, and no double talk-just old fashioned, unsweetened, unvarnished truth-just the way that I would want it.” -Bill Turley

When it comes to California Waste Truck drivers, there is no one who works harder then these men and women. They provide for the rest of us and they bust their butts while their doing it. And the one thing that ticks me off more then anything, is seeing these hard working folks like yourself getting ripped off by the companies they work for.

Republic Services, Bill Gates, Teamsters and Republic California Garbage Truck Drivers

One article reads:

Billionaire Bill Gates continues to build his ownership stake in Republic Services (Phoenix, AZ) which now stands at 24.8 percent of the company.

Another article reads: Bill Gates is looking for cash in trash

Bill Gates has been a consistent buyer of the stock, whereas the rest of the insiders of the company have been executing their stock options and selling the stock in the open market.

Another article:

Warren Buffett and Bill Gates Now Have $1.9 Billion in Republic Services (NYSE: RSG)

If these two men can move the stock market by altering their dress code, just imagine what they can do when they team up and start pouring billions of dollars into one individual stock. And that's exactly what's happening...

But here is how Republic treats it's workers:

Republic's attacks on its workers have increased in the last year.

In May 2012, the company locked out 80 members of Teamsters Local 215 in Evansville, Ind. for six weeks. Out-of-town replacement drivers damaged people's homes, vehicles and even power lines during the lockout.

Last March, the company walked away from a ratified contract with Teamsters Local 991 in Mobile, Ala. Local 991 members were forced to strike to protest the company's illegal behavior and finally secure a contract. Workers in four other cities across the country honored their picket lines before the company came to its senses a little over a week later. During the lockout in Evansville, workers in five cities honored picket lines before the lockout was ended.

Republic/Allied Waste's total revenues were more than $8.2 billion in 2011, with profits of more than $589 million. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is the primary shareholder at Republic Services. Gates, whose personal assets total $66 billion, owns approximately $2.4 billion worth of Republic stock, or 25 percent of the total worth of the company. Gates' investment officer Michael Larson sits on the Republic Services board of directors.

Bill Gates: nice charity work, shame about the business practices

One might also assume, therefore, that Gates also ensures the waste management company he has invested in, Republic Services makes excellent sanitation the only priority of its operation, more important than making profits.

Alas, if you did make these assumptions about Bill Gates, you would be wrong. For as he jets off around the world to promote polio vaccinations and "environmentally friendly toilet seats", Republic Services is locking out its workers as part of an industrial dispute, a practice which may jeopardize the sanitation of American communities. According to the Teamsters union, which represents the employees of Republic Services, workers have been subject to lockouts for protesting against the destruction of already modest pensions, unpaid overtime, and illegally abandoning contracts agreed upon with the union. In 2012, Republic Services' practice of locking out protesting workers led to stoppages in at least 13 American cities. Teamsters has called on Gates to use his wealth and influence that same wealth and influence he's planning to use to eradicate polio to put an end to this dispute.
