Injured aboard a Military Sealift Command Ship/ Injured on a Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force Ship?

Injured on a Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force ship?

Are you a Military Sealift Command Jones Act Seaman?

All NFAF ships are government owned and crewed by civil service mariners. Some of the ships also have a small contingent of Navy personnel aboard for operations support, supply coordination and helicopter operations.

The civil service crew members and officers aboard Military Sealift Command ships are Jones Act Seaman. If they are injured aboard the vessel they have most of the same rights that Jones Act Seaman have that work aboard private vessels. If you are injured aboard a USA owed vessel then your case will fall under the Suits in Admiralty Act or the Public Vessel Act. All injury lawsuits under the Suits in Admiralty Act or the Public Vessel Act must be filed in US Federal District Court.
